Candace received a Bachelor of Science in Biology and Master of Science in Developmental Physiology from UNT. While at UNT, she conducted and published medical research in Developmental Physiology.
Throughout her life, she volunteered in hospitals and clinics, as well as worked in home health care for many years. Candace worked as a college professor teaching Anatomy & Physiology for many years before officially becoming a Board Certified Patient Advocate in September 2018. Many friends and family members influenced her decision to become an Advocate, including a friend with a cancer diagnosis, a family member who nearly died from prescription interactions, and another family member denied by insurance for expensive mental health treatment- all of whom she was able to help get the care they deserved. Candace is the CEO of AdvocateATX.
