Medicare, Long-term Care, and Aging in Place Consultant
Rob works with individuals, families, and other professionals to ensure that extended care planning and health costs in retirement are part of comprehensive planning. Two important concepts must be understood as we age:
1.) Medicare, while a wonderful health insurance program, is not free. It is a means tested program where the cost is based on your income in retirement. Certain income sources are exempt from Medicare means testing (how much extra you may have to pay), but most income sources are not exempt.
2.) We have a likely cost associated with extended care services. This is care if we need assistance for activities of daily living (e.g. eating, bathing, or dressing) or supervision if we have a cognitive impairment so we are not a danger to ourselves.
A proper long-term care plan helps avoid the consequences of not being able to pay for lifestyle and other commitments for spouses and other family members. It also allows your family to supervise the care instead of providing the care.
Rob is passionate about staying at home for as long as possible, and working with other professionals who can help make that a reality.
